Honey Producer While not many beekeepers are located in the northwest mountains of Guatemala, those who dot the mountainside are there because they have a passion for it and are willing to do the hard work to produce a beautiful product. In this region of the world farmers rely on their coffee harvest to provide for their families over the entire year. The use of bees in coffee growing has been crucial in helping buds to set so that coffee trees will blossom. These Farmers position their hives within the coffee plantations allowing the bees constant access to the coffee blossom nectar. The farmers use mobile extraction processes due to the remote and sheer steepness of the terrain. Beekeeping provides an additional source of revenue for many farmers who depend on the volatile market and cyclical yields of coffee. Part of Coffee Blossom Honey's mission is to support small producers in efforts to provide long term economic sustainability. Honey production has the added value of increasing cross pollination, and it is a liquid asset as a local consumable! Having an additional product that can be sold or traded locally, as well as exported, creates more options for a small coffee producer allowing them to become more independent and have a brighter future.
