| About the Bean | CODECH is an association of three farmer cooperative groups in the Concepcion Huista and Cuchumatanes regions of Huehuetenango, mostly belonging to the Popti' Maya people. The group was founded in 2000 out of the need to market and sell coffee from producers. Thirty-seven percent of the 476 farmers in this non-profit organization are women, who initially participated as midwives. Over time the project has opened to support the development of women in the region. |
